2-20-17 fire destroys waupun area home

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a  Waupun area home.  Firefighters were called to the scene on Highway 151 in the town of Trenton  Friday night to find the home engulfed in flames.   The occupants, Jason Heeringa and Tiffany Dines and a child were able to get out of the house safely.   A pet dog died in the fire.  The Red Cross is assisting the family. 2-20-17 wisconsin lawmakers ditch plans to end daylight saving time

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two Republican lawmakers have scrapped a bill to end daylight saving time in Wisconsin amid a backlash on social media and now want to make the sunshine-extending time change permanent year-round in the state.   Reps. 2-20-17 fdl street closure

A heads up for Fond du Lac motorists.  The Department of Public Works says starting Monday there will be a temporary closure of Stow Street from Taft Street to Wettstein Street.  The street will be closed for routine bridge maintenance on Monday,  February 20th and Tuesday, February 21.

2-18-17 drunken driving fatal-sentence

WAUPACA, Wis. (AP) — A driver who killed a man in a drunken driving crash and left the scene in Waupaca County has been sentenced to five years in prison.  A pickup truck driven by Allen Guse of Marion cross the center line of the road and struck a minivan, killing 35-year-old Matthew Egerer in March of 2015.
