The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is stepping up patrol this weekend in an area of Beaver Dam that has been the scene of criminal activity. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says deputies will be working with Beaver Dam police and the state patrol in a criminal interdiction operation in the area of Madison Street and Highway 151 from Beaver Dam to Columbus. Schmidt says the criminal interdiction is in response to credible information received that another event is taking place at Pops Eatery in Beaver Dam. This event is reported to have the same individuals who were involved in an incident last month that resulted in numerous arrests and citations. Police believe these individuals have gang ties and following the February event, it is believed they were involved in a shooting that took place in Madison.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
