A Waupun man has been arrested on drug charges following a welfare check conducted by police. Officers were called to a gas station and made contact with a 65 year old man who was under the influence. Waupun Deputy Police Chief Scott Louden says officers went to the man’s residence to check if a family member could be notified. Louden says when arriving at the home officers found what appeared to be drugs in the residence and obtained a search warrant. Officers confiscated marijuana, drug paraphernalia and opioids.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
