A new report lists the 50 safest cities in Wisconsin…and Fond du Lac did not make the list. The National Council for Home Safety and Security compiled the list by reviewing the most recent FBI Uniform crime report statistics. According to the report Oconomowoc, Freedom and Mukwonago are the top three safest cities in the state. North Fond du lac is 29th, Ripon is 41st and Waupun is 47th. The city of Fond du Lac did not crack the top 50.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
