3-23-17 grothman says he’ll vote for healthcare overhaul bill

todayMarch 22, 2017

Wisconsin Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says he will vote in favor of the health care overhaul bill.  Grothman says he believes the bill will pass.  In the days leading up to the vote Republicans have offered amendments aimed at providing more help for older people, curbing Medicaid and accelerating the repeal of some tax increases.  Democrats say as a result of the repeal, over 220,000 Wisconsin residents could lose their coverage and another 3.2 million individuals could see higher out-of-pocket costs.  Grothman says he believes costs will eventually go down.  “I think it will cause over time more innovation which should result in lowering healthcare costs,”  Grothman told WFDL news.  Grothman introduced an amendment that would lower the age young adults could stay on their parent’s insurance plan from 26 years old to 23.
