A mother and father face child neglect charges after Fond du Lac police removed nine dogs and five cats from a home. The city inspector’s office says the home in the 100 block of Ledgeview Avenue is uninhabitable. Police were initially called to the Ledgeview Avenue home for a report of dogs running loose in the neighborhood. Officers found what they described as a home in complete disarray with animal feces everywhere. There were four children living in the home.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
