The Fond du lac Area United Way has reached its goal. Executive director Amber Kilawee made the official announcement at this week’s annual awards and recognition luncheon. “$760,000, goal met,” Kilawee told WFDL news. “I want to thank everyone who contributed to making that happen.” The United Way serves 22 member agencies throughout Fond du lac County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
