The crime rate in Fond du lac is down. Fond du lac police Chief, Bill Lamb says the overall crime rate in Fond du Lac dropped three percent from 2015 to 2016. “Burglaries, thefts, motor vehicle thefts, arsons…those are all five year lows,” Lamb told WFDL news. “There were no homicides in the city in 2016. We haven’t had a homicide in the city since July of 2015.” Lamb says the property crime rate continued to go down. Lamb says the areas of concern are robberies and aggravated assaults. “Robberies stayed about the same, but a significant number of those are something along the line of a drug deal gone bad. The one area that is of concern is the aggravated assaults and the majority of those being domestic violence related.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
