Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a home in the town of Beaver Dam. Firefighters were called to the Travis and Ashley Kleindl home on South Center Road shortly after 3:30am Tuesday to find a fire in the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished. Fire chief Alan Mannel says the occupants were able to wake-up and safely escape thanks to properly working smoke detectors. Beaver Dam Firefighters were assisted on the scene by mutual aid from Burnette, Horicon, Juneau, and Lowell Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is under routine investigation by the Beaver Dam Fire Dept. The fire loss is estimated at $30,000.00. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from extending into other areas of the home. There was smoke damage to the remaining areas of the home and one cat perished in the fire.
