On Tuesday, April 25 beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Fond du Lac STEM Academy and Institute will host their STEM Design Challenge Showcase at the Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac. The showcase highlights learning and achievement by featuring student-driven solutions to community problems submitted by local businesses. The event will also include dinner, auction and basket raffle, and serves as the primary fundraising event for STEM, allowing for the procurement of materials, technology and supplies necessary to support this unique learning environment. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
