Jeff West says his son was wrong and he apologizes for his actions, but also says bullying is at the root of the problem. West’s 15 year old son was arrested last week after posting a threat on social media directed toward the Waupun Area Junior-Senior High School. “First of all I want to apologize to all the families, Waupun city, school for what happened,” West told WFDL news. “My son apologizes on behalf of my family, his mom’s family. But what we need to do is get to the bottom of why this happened.” West says his son takes adderall to treat his attention deficit disorder. He says the threat was directed at another student who has bullied his son at the school and who wanted to buy the drug from his son. “There’s a kid in the school that tried to buy that adderall from him. Thank god he didn’t want to sell it to him. My son did make a mistake and he will be punished. But we have to get to the bottom of it. The bullying at that school is pathetic, the drugs are pathetic. It is terrible.” West says he understands his son needs to be punished for making the threat, but says the school has to do more to address bullying and drug abuse at the school.
