The city of Fond du Lac has officially reported to the DNR and the public that it bypassed wastewater into nearby storm sewer systems in six locations early Sunday due to the heavy rains onto already saturated soils. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says this means that untreated—though heavily diluted—wastewater flowed directly into the city’s waterways. Skiff says the the City takes these situations very seriously, and does everything in its power to bypass only when there is an imminent threat to human health and private property.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
