Following successful school building referendums in Waupun and North Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac school officials are in the beginning stages of a process that may lead to a major building referendum. The school board met in a workshop session this week to discuss long-range facilities planning. School board president Mark Jurgella says the plan is to hire a consultant to conduct a survey of district buildings. Jurgella says whether that leads to a referendum is unknown at this point. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
