In January, the Fond du Lac Public Library put a call out to creative teens to enter their third annual Teen Photo Contest, expecting – as usual – to see a few dozen images, perhaps besting last year’s 50-plus entries. 4-20-17 milwaukee man gets long prison sentence for fdl home invasion

A Milwaukee man convicted in an armed home invasion in Fond du Lac has received a long prison sentence.  At a hearing Wednesday Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Xavier Young to 22 years in prison and 20 years extended  supervision.    In February a jury found Young guilty of party to the crime of armed robbery and burglary.  Young was one of three men involved in a home invasion […]

4-20-17 illinois woman sentenced in fdl infant death case

An Illinois woman convicted of neglect in connection with the death of her infant son in Fond du Lac is going to prison.  Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe has sentenced  Airrealle Smart to five years in prison followed by ten years of extended supervision.  Last month Smart entered what’s called an Alford plea  to a  charge of  neglecting a child  and neglecting a child causing death.   Under the plea […]

Schools, businesses, families and individuals have two opportunities to test their emergency plans during statewide tornado drills Thursday.  A mock tornado watch will be issued at 1pm followed by a statewide mock warning at 1:45.  A second mock tornado warning will be issued at 6:45pm to give families and second shift workers a chance to practice their emergency plans. OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Oshkosh Corp. has secured $258 million in orders to rebuild trucks and manufacture trailers for the Army.  Oshkosh will rebuild 670 heavy tactical vehicles. The Army says it saves about 25 percent when a truck is rebuilt rather than completely replaced. It refurbishes trucks with bullet holes, bent frames and mangled wheels to become like-new vehicles.  Oshkosh will also produce 356 vehicle trailers in the latest round of Army […]

4-20-17 fdl elementary school principal leaving at the end of school year

A Fond du Lac elementary school principal is leaving at the end of the school year.   Roberts Elementary School principal Brad Ebert has been hired as the new Kiel School District administrator.  Ebert started in the Fond du Lac School District for seven years ago as an assistant principal at Theisen Middle School.
