The director of the Fond du lac downtown partnership says she wants the city to invest in a design plan to help implement some of the recommendations of a downtown exploratory committee. Amy Hansen spoke at last week’s city council meeting. “The biggest thing I can recommend right now is to finalize a design plan,” Hansen said. “We need specific ideas of what we are going to implement in our city.” Hansen says she wants the city council to give the downtown partnership the green light to hire a firm to develop a design plan to implement some of the exploratory committee recommendations.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
