Two people were injured, one seriously, in a head on collision east of Fond du Lac. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the crash happened shortly before 6am on Highway 23 near Highway UU. Waldschmidt says the crash happened shortly before 6am when the driver of a westbound vehicle, an 18 year old Sheboygan man, attempted to pass a semi, colliding head on with an eastbound vehicle. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 39 year old Jackson man was flown by helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. The driver of the westbound vehicle was treated at St. Agnes Hospital and then booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on a probation hold. Waldschmiddt says the Sheriff’s Office is investigating possible drug or other impairment of the at-fault driver. All lanes of Highway 23 were reopened shortly before 11am.
