The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new information regarding a hit and run injury crash in front of Schmitty’s Oar House restaurant on Winnebago Drive last month. Initially witnesses said the victim was struck by an SUV while crossing the road to a parking lot. But Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says with the help of a local automobile repair shop, detectives were able to determine small pieces of a broken passenger side headlamp lens found at the scene came from a 2009-2017 Ram half-ton pickup truck. Waldschmidt says additional witnesses have come forward to say they saw a metallic colored pick-up truck with a topper leaving the parking lot just prior to the incident. The driver was described as a male, about 30 years old, wearing a camoflauge baseball cap. The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with additional information to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 920-929-3390. They can also report anonymously by calling the Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement Tip Line at 920-906-4777.
