A Sheboygan teenager faces criminal charges in connection with a head on collision Monday on Highway 23 in Fond du lac County. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says An 18 year old Sheboygan man was attempting pass a semi tractor trailer and slammed head on into an east bound vehicle on Highway 23 just east of county highway UU. The driver of the eastbound car, a 39 year old Jackson man was airlifted to ThedaClark Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries. Waldschmidt says the Sheboygan man was treated at St. Agnes Hospital and then booked into the Fond du lac County Jail on a probation hold. Waldschmiddt says the Sheriff’s Office is investigating possible drug or other impairment of the at-fault driver. The crash shut down Highway 23 for about five hours Monday morning.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
