The editor of the Fond du Lac High School yearbook is being honored for her efforts. High School senior, Sydney Loomans, was recently awarded a $10,000 scholarship from Jostens, a national manufacturer of memorabilia, for her outstanding work as a yearbook editor-in-chief. According to the Fond du Lac School District Loomans is the first recipient in the Midwest to win the award. “Its crazy. I never thought I was going to get it because there are so many people that apply for it,” Loomans told WFDL news. “Its a huge honor and I’m incredibly thankful for the people that helped me on staff, Ms. Daeiden (yearbook advisor) and our Josten’s representative, Jayme Bogner, that helped me achieve my goals.” Selection of the scholarship recipient was primarily based on the innovativeness and efficiency of the yearbook staff leadership in her role as project manager. Loomans says the yearbook staff does all of its work on their own time, outside of the school day. The yearbook has been published and will be distributed to students on the final day of school. “I’m so excited for everyone to see it. I’m so proud of the work that everyone put in.”
