The president of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce Board says a new combined Association and Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation should be up and running in a month. The Association of Commerce membership approved the proposed affiliation at a special meeting Wednesday afternoon. The boards representing the Association and FCEDC approved the merger last week. Association board president Tom Schneider says a president of the new organization has been selected and an announcement is expected soon. Schneider says the goal of the new organization, Envision Greater Fond du Lac, is to make the greater Fond du Lac region more attractive and competitive in attracting businesses. In addition Schneider says its hoped that a combined organization will help reduce donor and volunteer fatigue and respond to be more efficient with resources.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
