Fond du Lac police say it appears an employee at Applebee’s restaurant was trying to frame a co-worker when he sent a threatening letter to the company’s corporate headquarters. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Applebee’s near the Forest Mall closed down Thursday afternoon after the company’s corporate Human Resources office received a threatening letter stating an employee was going to shoot up the place. Klein says investigators learned another employee actually sent the letter to try to get a co-worker in trouble. A 32 year old Fond du Lac man was arrested on charges of making terrorist threats.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
