Walleye Weekend is underway with plenty of activities for the entire family. Fond du Lac’s premier summer tourist attraction centers around the Mercury Marine National Walleye Fishing tournament. In addition to food and games, the three day event also features music on three stages at Lakeside Park. One of the bands performing on the main stage Saturday afternoon is a group of high school friends called Orange Afternoon. Fond du Lac High School senior Michael Stensland is the group’s lead singer. “It (band) actually started with me, Ben and Conor. We started an Instagram and posted short covers of songs and we said let’s take this somewhere and we decided to add Ike and Josh to the band. We got the Walleye Weekend gig, and we added Eric. Its been a lot of fun, we all really enjoy practicing and are really excited,” Stensland said. In addition to Stensland the group is comprised of seniors Ben Baker, Conor Mitchell and juniors Ike Holzmann, Eric Reid and Josh Guy. “I feel like we really have an awesome sound as a group,” Guy said. “Once we hit that pocket, being able to play together, and just kind of jam when we practice a song, push through it and figure out the song and we are finally able to get all the way through.” Mitchell says the group’s music style covers a wide-range. “It can go from country, to rock, to alternate. That’s one of the strengths of our band…we don’t have a set genre.” Orange Afternoon will be performing at 3pm Saturday on the Main Stage on the west side of the park.
