The heat and humidity can take its toll on roadways. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says a portion of Highway 151 near Waupun buckled Monday afternoon. “In the southbound lanes of traffic the cement heaved and they had to get out there and break up the cement and temporarily patch it,” Waldschmidt told WFDL news. Waldschmidt says there were no traffic accidents. He says it’s a reminder for motorists to pay attention and not be distracted even when the conditions seem perfect.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
