Replacement of a deteriorating Fond du Lac bridge has taken another step forward. The Fond du Lac Plan commission has recommended to city council the approval of a relocation order and right of way plat for the Arndt Street bridge. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says heavy truck traffic from Sadoff Iron and Metal has taken its toll on the more than 80 year old bridge. Skiff says the new bridge will be better able to accommodate that traffic.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
