AAA is predicting Independence Day travelers will set at new record this holiday weekend. State AAA spokesman, Nick Jarmuscz says a record-breaking 44.2 million Americans will travel during the 4th of July holiday, including nearly 953,000 from Wisconsin…an increase of more than three percent from last year. Jarmuscz says the fact that the holiday falls on a Tuesday also makes a difference along with low gas prices. Jarmuscz says the projections follow a trend of increased travel during the major holidays over the last couple of years.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
