6-27-17 lamb-fentanyl

todayJune 26, 2017

The Fond du Lac police chief says he supports legislation designed to crack down on those who manufacture deadly opioids known as fentanyl analogs.  Chief Bill Lamb says making possession, manufacture or delivery of a fentanyl analog a felony is a step in the right direction.  Lamb says the number of opioid overdoses in Fond du Lac continues to climb.  He says the concern is that people can purchase these synthetics on the internet and remain anonymous, but they don’t know what they’re getting.  The highly potent drug is being added to heroin to stretch its use, leading to a recent spike in overdoses across the state.  As little as two milligrams of fentanyl can be deadly.
