The Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is planning to sell its building on the frontage road along Interstate 41. Bureau president Craig Molitor says instead of ownership the organization is considering leasing a building. Molitor says visibility along I-41 is not as important as some people may think. He says in this digital age, travelers don’t stop at visitor bureaus like they use to. “People just gather information in such a completely different way these days,” Molitor told WFDL news. “The Visitors Bureau is a marketing company. That’s our goal is to be a destination marketing company.” Molitor says leasing would save money and allow the organization to focus on its core mission of marketing Fond du Lac. Molitor says if and when the building is sold the convention bureau will examine its options for a new location in Fond du Lac.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
