6-21-17 former milwaukee police officer acquitted in shooting case

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee jury has acquitted a former police officer of first-degree reckless homicide in the shooting of a black man last year that ignited riots on the city's north side. Jurors decided Wednesday that Dominique Heaggan-Brown, who is also black, was justified when he shot 23-year-old Sylville Smith after a brief foot chase following a traffic stop Aug. 23.

6-21-17 local unemployment rate down

The May unemployment rate is down in municipalities and counties across the state.  The city of Fond du lac’s jobless rate dipped from 2.6 to 2.5 percent in May.  Fond du Lac County’s unemployment rate dropped from 2.4 to 2.3 percent.  In Dodge County the May unemployment rate stands at 2.5 percent, down from 2.7 percent in April.

6-21-17 area republican lawmakers issue statement on hwy 23 ruling

Wisconsin ranks 12th in the nation in overall child well-being, according to the latest Kids Count data book just released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — An Associated Press review has found that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's proposal to drug-test Medicaid recipients drew five positive comments out of more than 1,000 recently submitted by the public.  The AP obtained the comments under the state's open records law.
