State Department of Corrections officials are investigating two reported staff assaults at correctional institutions over the weekend. Sources told WFDL news an officer was assaulted by a 15 year old inmate at the Lincoln Hills School for Boys in Irma Saturday. The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of a concussion. Sources says the Green Bay Correctional Institution was placed in lockdown Saturday after an inmate struck an officer in the head with an ice bucket. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
