The Fond du Lac Senior Center is being recognized as a Dementia Friendly Business. The center earned the designation after staff participated recently in the Dementia Friendly Community training. The training gives employees knowledge to see the signs of , understand the needs and respond appropriately to someone with dementia. Once a local business has gone through the training, they receive a Purple Angel decal – an international sign that a business is “dementia-friendly.” There are an estimated 120,000 individuals living with dementia in Wisconsin and over 2,200 in Fond du Lac County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
