Authorities have identified the victim of an apparent drowning on Lake Deneveu in Fond du Lac County. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says the victim has been identified as 23 year old Steven Wade of Delafield. Rescue personnel responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of a swimmer who was underwater after having a medical incident on the lake. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Dive Team was able to locate Wade approximately three hours after he was last seen going under water. The cause of death has not been determined. Investigators say Wade was an avid swimmer. He was not wearing a life jacket.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
