The Fond du Lac Fire chief says he hopes a new Jt. Public Safety Training Center will become a reality soon. Chief Pete O’Leary will update the city council in a closed door meeting Wednesday night on a potential land purchase for the facility. O’Leary says the training center will be built in phases and will be used for training by firefighters and police. Meanwhile, O’Leary will update the council in open session on a preliminary 2018 budget, including the possible purchase of new portable radios for the department.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
