A group of Fond du Lac residents is hoping to make an immediate, positive impact on the community through a new initiative called Fondy 100 Gives. Fond du Lac YMCA director Greg Giles, says he got the idea from the charitable organization called 100 People Who Care. Under the program 100 Fond du Lac residents will donate $100 four times a year and will vote every three months on a worthwhile project to receive $7500. “The concept is pretty straight forward. We want to bring 100 people together who are willing to make a $100 donation four times a year,” Giles told WFDL news. “We’re going to make an investment four times a year of $10,000 into this community.” The group will vote on its first project July 18th at Grande Cheese.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
