The Waupun Police department officially has a new deputy chief of police.
Jeremy Rasch was unanimously approved by the Waupun Police and Fire Commission this week, filling the vacancy left when Scott Louden was named the new chief.
Rasch has been with the department for 15 years, starting in 2002.
Recruitment will now begin for the police lieutenant position, which was Rasch’s previous role with the department.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
