Sheriff’s Officials in Waupaca County are confirming it was an accidental gunshot that killed a 15-year-old boy earlier this week.
Deputies were called to the scene in the town on Farmington just after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday for report of a boy that had been shot.
Authorities confirmed Jacob Peglow had been shot accidentally by a 17-year-old friend with a .22 caliber gun, which they did not think was loaded.
Jacob died as a result of his injuries.
Sheriff Brad Hardel said it was a tragic accident, and issued a reminder for everyone to always treat all firearms as if they are loaded.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
