7-19-17 garage explosion

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say two men have been seriously injured in an explosion at a city Public Works Department garage.  The blast happened shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday. The cause wasn't immediately determined.  The two men were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

7-19-17 fatal buggy crash

TOWN OF HANSEN, Wis. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say one person has died and two others have been injured in a collision between an Amish buggy and an SUV in Wood County.  Sheriff's Lt. 7-18-17 change of address for fdl child sex offenders

The Fond du Lac Police Department is notifying the public that two convicted child sex offenders have moved to new locations in the city.   Christopher Hensler is now living at 398 North Main Street.  Hensler was released in May after serving additional time for rules violations.  He was earlier in prison for sexually assaulting two girls, ages 13 and 14.  Anthony Weinkauf is now living at 347 North Military Road.  […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has signed nearly a dozen bills designed to combat opioid addiction at stops around the state.  The governor signed four bills in De Pere, four more bills in Onalaska and three bills in Schofield on Monday.  Walker called a special legislative session in January to pass the bills, calling opioid addiction a public health crisis in Wisconsin. 7-18-17 fdl county da-long prison sentence warranted for attack of waupun woman

A transient worker from Texas  told investigators he attacked a Waupun woman last Thanksgiving because he was lonely.  A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after a Fond du Lac jury last week found Juan Antonio Arriaga guilty of multiple charges including attempted kidnapping.  District Attorney Eric Toney says Arriaga approached the 22 year old woman from behind as she was walking home from a bar.  Toney says fortunately for the […]

A study suggests that changes to your speech may indicate you're developing thinking problems. More pauses, filler words and other verbal changes might be an early sign of mental decline, which can lead to Alzheimer's disease.  Researchers had people describe a picture they were shown in taped sessions two years apart. 7-18-17 lumberjack world championship

HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) — Competitors are expected to gather in northern Wisconsin for the annual Lumberjack World Championships this week. The gathering in Hayward will showcase more than 20 events for world records in areas such as logrolling, chopping and pole climb.  Over 100 competitors are set to vie for more than $50,000 in prize money. The event starts Thursday and runs through Saturday.
