The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is swearing in its new K9 Officer Tuesday evening. Officer Nehls and his K9 partner TEK will be assigned to the overnight shift beginning their duties immediately after the swearing in ceremony at 7pm Tuesday night . Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the Sheriff’s Office now has three K9 deputies working to keep the streets safe and deter the use of illegal substances in the county.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
