8-3-17 environmental groups blast foxconn proposal

todayAugust 3, 2017

Environmental groups are blasting a proposed bill that would exempt Foxconn from many environmental regulations.  Governor Scott Walker and president Trump announced last week a $3 billion incentives package for the company.  Walker says the bill would streamline the construction process.   But Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters executive director, Kerry Schumann says eliminating a number of key environmental compliance requirements threatens the environment.  The legislation eliminates the need for Foxconn to obtain state permits to fill wetlands and environmental impact statements.  Schumann says a rollback of such an extreme nature is unnecessary.
