A Fond du Lac man tried to elude police by climbing a tree. Police were called this week to a report of a domestic disturbance on East Arndt Street and when officers arrived the suspect fled on foot. A police K9 found the man hiding in a tree in the 200 block of Amory Street. The 37 year old man eventually climbed down and was arrested. Nobody was injured in the incident.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
