13 people were hospitalized after a series of crashes that shut down I94 in Jefferson County near Lake Mills on Saturday morning.
The State Patrol says a Pontiac Grand Prix drifted into the median shoulder, overcorrected and spun out against the guard rail just after 8:30 Saturday morning.
A secondary crash resulted, with a total of 4 vehicles and 6 non-life threatening injuries, causing complete blockage of all lanes on Westbound I94.
Shortly thereafter, another pileup crash ensued, this time involving 5 vehicles and sending 7 people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The backup from all 3 crashes reached nearly nine miles.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
