8-15-17 farmers market salmonella poisoning update

todayAugust 15, 2017

State and local health officials continue to investigate a salmonella poisoning outbreak apparently caused by fresh shelled peas purchased at farmers markets in Fond du Lac, Green Bay and Madison. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says investigators are trying to determine if the source of the suspected peas is from Fond du Lac County.  “A lot of farmers market vendors travel from market to market.  In this investigation we have somewhat of an idea of what vendor it could be,”  Mueller told WFDL news.  Anyone who purchased the peas from July 19th through August 5th  from one of the three farmers markets is advised to throw them in the garbage.
