A couple faces child neglect and animal mistreatment charges seven months after Fond du Lac police found their home filled with feces. Fifty year old Leo Schneider of Horicon has been issued a summons to appear in Fond du Lac court and an arrest warrant has been issued for 46 year old Andrea Schneider of Stevens Point. The charges stem from last January when the couple was living at a residence on Ledgeview Avenue with their four children. Police removed nine dogs and five cats from the home. The city inspector’s office condemned the home. Police were initially called to the home for a report of dogs running loose in the neighborhood. Officers found what they described as a home in complete disarray with animal feces everywhere.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
