Fond du Lac school officials are assessing their next step with a fundraising effort for a new Construction Academy still short of the goal. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says as of the end of July approximately $827,000 had been pledged toward the estimated $1.1 million cost to build the nearly six thousand square foot facility. Sebert says the question is whether to scale back the project or continue to try to raise money. “We need to have the money pledged in order to break ground and we’re short at this particular point,” Sebert told WFDL news. “That’s the discussion. How do we get there (fundraising goal) and if we don’t get there do we make modifications to the building?” School officials say the Academy will enable educators to teach students the fundamentals of several construction trades, from architecture and engineering, to carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
