More than 3,000 people attended the 2017
Taste of Fond du Lac. For the third consecutive year, the event was held at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac August 20th with food samples from local restaurants, and food trucks, along with a beer garden and live music. Society Insurance of Fond du Lac sponsored the event.
The coveted PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD at the 2017 Taste of Fond du Lac went to Red Cabin at Green Acres Bar and Supper Club, which claimed the title for the fifth consecutive year.
Other category winners were:
First place for Appetizers: The Green Dragon Brew Pub for its Mac ‘n’ Cheese Meatloaf Slider, a new creation by chef and owner Jacob Walker.
First place for Soup: Benvenuto’s Italian Grill for its Sopa de Toscana. Executive chef Tim Burke said “The Sopa de Toscana is Benvenuto’s version of the classic Italian soup Zuppa Toscana. Sopa is loaded with Italian sausage, pork, bacon, kale and potato, all in a creamy earthy broth. Just a hint of spice but loaded with flavor.”
First place for Lunch Entrée: Very competitive category, with Los Tres Manantiales of Appleton taking top honors for its Steak Quesadilla.
First place for Dinner Entrée: Barbecued ribs from DD’s BBQ in Oshkosh.
First place for Dessert: Wisconsin’s Best Bread Pudding, served by Red Cabin at Green Acres.
