A new splashpad and design plans for a pavilion at Lakeside Park and a new residential park are included in the capital improvement plan for next year. The proposed park projects were discussed at this week’s Fond du Lac Advisory Park Board meeting. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the splash pad would be built near the children’s play area at Lakeside Park. Skiff says the Colonel James Megellas Park would be located on Fond du Lac’s east side off Primrose Drive. Skiff says the other big parks project for 2018 is developing a plan for a new pavilion at Lakeside Park.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
