The Waupun School administrator says the Waupun School District would fare well under a school funding proposal approved by the Joint Finance committee. The plan would raise per pupil aid by $200 this year and $204 next year. Waupun School administrator Tanya Olson says the increased aid will help the district balance its budget. “For this year coming up it really doesn’t change what we were expecting. That means about $400,000 in extra funding for us” Olson told WFDL news. “Seeing as how we were predicting about a $400,000 deficit, that will help us balance our budget.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
