8-22-17 fdl county receives federal traffic safety grant

Fond du Lac County has received a major federal traffic safety grant.  Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the county has received a $110,000 grant to increase overtime patrol on area roads.  "That's funding that will be designated not just to our deputies, but agencies throughout Fond du Lac County,"  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  "They will have extra patrols out on the highways strictly enforcing traffic rules."  Waldschmidt says the Waupun […]

8-22-17 bobcat hunt

For the fourth straight year there will be a statewide bobcat hunting season in Wisconsin.   DNR scientist, Nathan Roberts, says the harvest quota has been set at 750 for the 2017-18 season.  Roberts says that includes quota increases in both the northern and southern zones.  Roberts says the state’s bobcat population is healthy and robust enough to provide  additional harvest opportunities.  The bobcat hunting and trapping seasons begin October 15th.

CRIVITZ, Wis. 8-22-17 teen pleads guilty to lesser charge in slenderman attack

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — One of two teenagers charged with repeatedly stabbing a classmate to impress a fictitious horror character called Slender Man has decided to plead guilty to a lesser charge. 8-22-17 confirmed human case of west nile virus in fdl county

The first human cases of West Nile virus for 2017 have been reported in Wisconsin.    The cases were reported in Fond du Lac and Oconto counties.  Fond du Lac County Public Health officer Kim Mueller says the state is not releasing any specific information about the  infected person or where that person lives.  Mueller says the chances of a person contracting West Nile virus are very low and most people […]
