MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin property values have reached a new high.  The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance analyzed taxable property value data that was finalized Tuesday by the state Department of Revenue. The $526 billion in property value is a new peak and the 4.1 percent increase over 2016 is the biggest jump since 2007.  The previous high was $514 billion reached in 2008, just before the Great Recession hit.  Values […]

8-16-17 flood damage

Representatives from FEMA and Wisconsin Emergency Management toured flood-stricken counties in western Wisconsin Tuesday as the state seeks federal disaster assistance.  Tod Pritchard with Wisconsin Emergency Management says the assistance would go toward repairing flood damaged public infrascture such as roads and bridges.  Flooding rainfall caused July 19-22 caused significant damage in nine western Wisconsin counties.  Initial damage totals exceeded $15 million.

PESHTIGO, Wis. (AP) — The doctor who operated on a Wisconsin man who shot himself with a nail gun says the nail punctured the patient's heart.  Dr. Alexander Roitstein performed the surgery on Doug Bergeson at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay in June.  He said Tuesday it was difficult to assess how deeply the nail penetrated, but said it left bruising and a hole.  Roitstein said the nail […]

A Wisconsin state Assembly committee has approved a $3 billion tax incentive package for Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group.  The Republican-controlled Assembly jobs and economy committee voted 8-5 Monday along party lines to send the bill to the full Assembly.
