8-11-17 Jurors in Slenderman Stabbing Trials Ordered Sequestered

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — A judge in Waukesha County has ordered jurors be sequestered during the trials of two teens accused of stabbing a classmate to impress a fictitious character called Slender Man. Fifteen-year-olds Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier are charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the 2014 attack on Payton Leutner in Waukesha. Weier's trial is in September and Geyser's is in October.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New figures from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show production costs for Wisconsin farmers remained steady in 2016. The average Wisconsin farm spent nearly $159,000 on feed, labor, machinery and fuel last year. That's just a fraction of 1 percent more than in 2015.

8-11-17 Ashwaubenon Officer Hit Along I41 Home From Hospital

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) — A Green Bay area police officer has been released from a hospital 2 ½ weeks after being struck by a vehicle driven by a woman who allegedly was drunk. Ashwaubenon Officer Brian Murphy was listed in critical condition following the July 22 incident and required several surgeries. He went home Thursday. Murphy was struck while assisting at the scene of a car fire on Interstate 41.

8-11-17 Mayville Nursing Home Evacuated Tuesday

A Mayville nursing home was evacuated Tuesday after a malfunction in the building’s heating and cooling system. 39 residents were safely evacuated from Crossroads Care Center on Clark Street Tuesday when the smoke alarms in the building were activated. The Mayville Fire Department says nobody was injured in the incident.
