A trucker was seriously injured when he was attacked at a rest stop along southbound Interstate 41 in Dodge County. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says two black males jumped over a bathroom stall and assaulted a truck driver. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim. The truck driver, a 55 year old man from Titusville, PA, received serious injuries as a result of the assault and was transported to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and was later transferred to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee due to the extent of injuries. The incident happened at about 10:30pm Monday. The sheriff’s Office would like anyone who may have been a witness or who may have information regarding this crime to contact us with that information at 920-386-3726.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
